FKA advised Viking Malt

FKA Furtek Komosa Aleksandrowicz advises Viking Malt Oy on the acquisition of Danish Malting Group from Carlsberg

On 11 May 2016, Viking Malt Oy acquired 100% of the shares of Danish Malting Group (DMG), a Finnish malt producer, from the Carlsberg Group. As a result, two Polish malting plants (in Sierpc and Strzegom) were incorporated into the Viking Malt Oy group. The plants will be performing under new names: Danish Malting Group Polska Sp. z o.o. as Viking Malt Sp. z o.o., and Słodownia Strzegom Sp. z o.o. as Viking Malt Specialities Sp. z o.o.

FKA Furtek Komosa Aleksandrowicz advised Viking Malt Oy on the Polish aspects of the Project, including: due diligence, commercial agreements, and corporate, infrastructure, employment and tax issues. FKA also represented the client in merger control proceedings before the President of the OCCP. The global advisor was Finnish law firm Hannes Snellman, and the advisor on Danish law was Gorrissen Federspiel.

FKA’s team advising Viking Malt Oy was supervised by Tadeusz Komosa (partner, head of the Corporate and M&A practice) and Mariusz Aleksandrowicz (partner, head of the Tax practice). They were supported by three experienced senior associates: Barbara Załęcka (legal advisor), Marta Ignasiak (tax advisor) Agnieszka Skrok (advocate) and a counsel: Jolanta Zarzecka-Sawicka (legal advisor).

The acquisition of the Polish malting plants has increased the dynamic expansion of Viking Malt in Europe. Currently the Group has operations in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania and Poland.
