It is extremely difficult to discuss the matter of tax-free allowance in a situation where the lawmakers are not too convinced of the role it should play.
The general impression is that the allowance in its present form is not to anyone’s benefit. It is not good for the state treasury since, after all, it deprives the treasury of what can amount to several hundred zlotys of revenue per taxpayer. Objectively speaking, this amount is not of much significance for taxpayers either. In fact it is somewhat insignificant (the savings range between several zlotys to several hundred zlotys per year) and does not constitute a living wage.
